Your DUI Court Appearance

The Marion Superior Court is located at 200 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204. The courthouse is located in downtown Indianapolis. Parking is available in various locations, but usually requires some sort of payment.

Your case will be assigned to one of the various Superior Court judges. Each Judge handles their cases in differing ways on differing days. Regardless of what Judge you are assigned to, we will provide effective legal representation to you for your case.

Please plan to arrive thirty minutes prior to your scheduled hearing. Lines to enter the courthouse can be long and time-consuming. Also, most of our DUI clients will be under some sort of license suspension. Be prepared and make travel arrangements with friends or family to safely arrive at the Courthouse.

You will also want to dress appropriately for court. Clothing items such as shorts, sweatshirts, cut-offs, jeans and hats are not consider suitable for a court appearance. While a suit and tie is always recommended, a collared shirt and dress pants will be acceptable as well. Use your best discretion when deciding what to wear to your court appearance.

Upon entering the courthouse, please turn off any cell phone and remove any bluetooth devices you have.

We recommend all of our clients bring proof of insurance from the night of the arrest. Even if you showed proof of insurance at the time of your initial stop, it might not have been properly recorded. Also, proof of insurance will be needed in order to request a Hardship License.

When you first arrive at the Courthouse, proceed through security. You will be required to pass through a metal detector. Therefore, we advise you to refrain from bringing in items that may set off the metal detector. Take the elevator to the floor in which you courtroom is located and wait outside until the courtroom opens. Please ask any court officer or employee for help if you get lost or confused.

Marion Superior Court can be very busy on certain days and light on others. Please plan on being in court for several hours. We will do our best to minimize the time you have to be in court.

Prior to your court appearance, your attorney will advise you in terms of what you can expect that day. We will explain the procedures of that day as well as what to say and how to respond when you appear before the Judge. If you have any questions prior to your hearing, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
